Crochet Christmas Star Garland

These crochet stars are so quick to make and the perfect stash buster project. They are perfect for creating Christmas garlands, using as gift tags on presents, or on some twine around the top of a bottle of wine or mason jar.

This pattern is written in US terminology

STITCHES & ABBREVIATIONS

CH - Chain

DC - Double Crochet

HDC - Half Double Crochet

TC - Treble/Triple Crochet

SL ST - Slip Stitch

MATERIALS

I used a 3.5mm hook with Drops Muskat DK in white.

I also used a darning needle and a length or brown twine to create the garland.

FOUNDATION

MC - Magic Circle: Magic Circle (video here on how to create a magic circle)

PATTERN

Round1: 10 HDC

Round 2: Place 2HDC in every stitch to create 20HDC, SL ST to join.

Star Point(s):

  • CH7, work a SC into the 3rd chain from the hook.

  • Work a HDC in the next chain

  • Work 2DC into the next 2 chains

  • Work a TC into the final and seventh chain (I modify this a little to provide and anchor to the circle) - Modified TC:

  • YO twice and insert into the chain, YO and pull through. Yo and pull through 2 loops, skip one stitch and insert hook into the next stitch along on the edge of the circle, Yo and pull through. You and pul through 3 loops on hook, YO and pull through 2 loops on hook to close the stitch. Skip next stitch on edge on circle and SL ST into next stitch.

  • Repeat from Chain 7 to create 4 more points to the your star.
